Affiliate Disclosure
This page explains, in plain terms, how this site makes money from links, what that does and does not change about our recommendations, and what this site never sells or links to. If you read nothing else here, read this: FreeMCBoot software itself is free and open source, and it is never sold on this site.
An independent resource site
This site is an independent resource about FreeMCBoot for the PlayStation 2. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Sony Interactive Entertainment, and it is not affiliated with the authors of FreeMCBoot. The PlayStation and PS2 names belong to their respective owners, and FreeMCBoot itself was created by Neme and jimmikaelkael, with the 1.9 series maintained by SP193. Credit for the software belongs to those authors and contributors, not to this site.
This site does not develop FreeMCBoot, does not distribute it as a commercial product, and does not speak for its authors. When this site links to a download, it points you to the author’s distribution or to a community mirror, and the download pages say which is which. Community mirrors are not presented as the author’s own files.
How affiliate links work here
Some links on this site are affiliate links. That means if you click one and buy something, this site may earn a commission from the seller, at no extra cost to you. The price you pay does not change because you clicked an affiliate link, and the commission does not come out of your pocket as an added fee.
Affiliate links on this site go to hardware and service providers, including Amazon, eBay, AliExpress, pCloud, and Backblaze. They appear in the buying guides, where they point to the kind of blank hardware the guide is discussing: memory cards, USB drives, adapters, hard drives, cables, and controllers, as well as cloud backup services for keeping your own files safe. Some of those links use short redirect addresses on this site, which exist so a link destination can be updated in one place if a seller changes its pages.
A commission never changes a recommendation on this site. Guides compare options with downsides included, and a product is recommended because it fits the setup described, not because it pays a commission. If a cheaper or better-fitting option exists, the guide says so, even if it earns less or nothing at all.
What this site never sells or links to
The following are not sold, promoted, or linked to on this site, and no affiliate link here points to them:
- FreeMCBoot software itself, or any claim to sell it. It is free and open source. You install it yourself from the download page.
- Memory cards or hard drives sold already containing software, setups, or game collections. Buy hardware blank, and install the software yourself.
- Game ISOs, game backups belonging to other people, or BIOS files. Use only your own dumps, made from games you own, and your own saves.
- Anything that misrepresents a community mirror as the author’s own distribution. Mirrors are labelled as mirrors.
If you ever find a link on this site that appears to point to one of the above, please report it through the contact page. It would be an error, not a policy, and it will be removed.
What to do if you prefer not to use affiliate links
You do not have to use them. Every buying guide describes the kind of part to look for — a genuine Sony 8MB blank card, a plain USB 2.0 drive, an MX4SIO adapter, a network adapter that fits the Fat expansion bay — in enough detail to find it from any seller you prefer. Affiliate links are a convenience and a way to support the site, not a requirement for following a guide.
If you have questions about this disclosure, or about a specific link, contact us through the contact page and mention the page and the link you are asking about.
